I love Thai food, although I’ve only been to Phuket once and have not set foot on Bangkok yet. Somehow I cannot resist a good bowl of piping hot tomyam or fragrant pieces of pandan chicken or rich mango pulut desserts. Therefore I am constantly searching for good Thai food in Penang.
And my most recent haunt for amazing Thai food is Chok Dee Thai located at Burmah Road. This restaurant used to be located in Island Glades but has now moved to one of the shoplots along Burmah Road (after Holiday Travel and Tours, next to Klinik Tropika, just before Jalan Loh Boon Siew) It is located nearer the Padang Victoria end of Burmah Road...
Chok Dee Thai resides comfortably in one of shophouses nestled along the famous Burmah Road. From the exterior, it exudes an air which spells elegance and exclusive dining environment.
I was not proven wrong when I stepped into the restaurant; where the ambience was enhanced with the lightly dimmed lighting and the arrangements of the furniture made the whole place looked comfortable for dining.
The lady who came to take our order was really friendly and spoke fluent English; I believe she was the owner of the place...
After lunch we returned back to Hong Yap at Jalan Siam to continue the baking class for the afternoon session. This time we had great fun baking and creaming the cupcakes and we even had a young little man in the class. He was for sure a chef in grooming.
In the evening we head off for a quick dinner before we departed for Kuala Lumpur. The hawker scene in Penang was awesome and so cultured. It brought back a lot of chilhood memories of my growing up. It was fun eating at the roadside in those days, it was so fun and full of heritage which we seldom experience this days...
