KissA Koyotei Japanese Restaurant is not exactly new to the food scene, but when it first opened, my family dined there without me and did not give it glowing reviews. Mainly because of the limited food choices and the menu was all in Japanese!
We promptly forgot about the place. But when we drove past the place again recently, their cheery, bright orange signboard beckoned…
And we were pleasantly surprised! Since then we’ve been there not once, but twice! So photos galore!...
Nope there’s no coyote picture here…but the title is actually the name of a Japanese restaurant located in Hutton Lane, opposite the back car-park entrance of New World Park.
I’ve been wanting to pay a visit to this shop for quite some time but only managed to dragged someone with me recently. It’s opened by a Japanese and his wife.
Interior is very nicely designed and decorated with yellow lights (me likey!!! )
We were wandering around the vicinity of New World Park for a decidedly late lunch and decided to give Kissa-Koyotei on Hutton Lane a go.
The place was empty, save for the friendly waitresses in cosplay-like uniforms and their chain-smoking teenaged boyfriends seated by the bar, looking quite ill at ease with their avant-garde hairdos. Fat Tulip and I grudgingly acknowledged that the place felt nouveau Japanese, though we're not quite sure why. I think the blaring J-pop as well as the strictly Japanese spelling "Ara carte" on the menu may have something to do with it.
I was prepared for the food to be mediocre at best for we saw no one in the vicinity of the kitchen...
I noticed this shop at Jalan Hutton when I look for lunch in New Word Park during my birthday. It was nearly 3PM and the lunch hour almost finished so I plan to visit it in other day. When I walk away I noticed a young girl dressed in pink maid custume… uh… uniform walked out thanking leaving guests. 8o I wonder whether there is Sailor Moon inside….
Anyway, here came Friday (15/Aug/08) in which I snake out earlier at 11:30am (in fact, consider “normal” as that is my usual lunch time… wahahaha) and went to the shop to have a try. There is no customer there yet and probably I was their first customer that afternoon… *gulupp* After flipping the simple menu I ordered Nabeyaki Udon & Salmon Temaki Set. At the mean time I snapped some photo...
Today is the 4th time going to kissA Koyotei Cafe and its been around 4 months since I last went together with our Comrades Andy, EDmund & Darton.
