Obake-Ya Restaurant
Posted by YummyStation | 11 September 2008

I went to Obake-Ya Restaurant with my friends after the Chinese New Year this year. I got to know this restaurant from forwarded email and the food review from people’s blog. The theme of the restaurant caught my attention. It was interesting to have a jail concept restaurant to serve Japanese food. I thought of giving it a try.

I felt the darkness when I first step into the restaurant. It was a bit dark inside. Just after you stepped into the restaurant, you can see a lot of wine on the rack and a Japanese ghost figure on the left hand side...

Disclaimer : This restaurant is grouped under ' NO COMMENT' category, got it?

I didn't have the chance to take photo on myself, just managed to take CE's pic. *battery turned low power lah, so must save the power up for shooting the food pics loh*

Mind you, this is a restaurant under SUSHI QUEEN's umbrella. I had a very bad meal at Sushi Queen at Megamall many years ago I would like to forgo my past experience and thus we give it a try hoping for something like "pricey never mind, as long as the food is good"...

REVIEW - OBAKE-YA RESTAURANT
Posted by CrizFood | 04 April 2008

Will you like the thrill of dining in a place that you would never want to be in? Try out the Obake-Ya Japanese Restaurant in Penang which will provide you with the ultimate jailhouse experience. As you walk up to the main entrance, you will see a Japanese style arch with lots of lanterns. Passing through the arch, you will see a beautiful Japanese Garden.

Along the pebble filled pathway, you will see a grill door. Open the door and you will be in hell. A gruesome prisoner with chains on an electric chair will surely drill the chill and shrill into your bones...

Obake-Ya: Prison Restaurant
Posted by DesmondTan85 | 13 April 2008

Here I kick off my Jalan-jalan Cari Makan Road Trip series of post. My very first trip would be to the Japanese Restaurant at Leith Street, Penang.

This restaurant is unique in the sense that they focus in the prison environment.

Speaking about prison, this diner provides you an insight of Michael Scofield in Prison Break a prison.

Nice ambience they have. Overall, the food is edible and mainly it is the presentation that makes them special...

OBAKE-YA Japanese Restaurant

I went to try out the Obake-Ya Japanese Restaurant last Sun with my friends. We celebrate 2 of my friend’s birthday there. I suggested the place since I want to try out the food there. There is also another reason, my friends always cannot make decision where to go every time. It’s better for me to make the decision and all of them just follow.

Obake-Ya Restaurant is unique! Inside, they design it like a jail or prison. That’s why it attracts many people to go there. I made the reservation 1 week ahead. I just afraid later I forgot about it. We went during lunch time...
