When one mentions Char Koay Teow (CKT) ones mind would first think of Penang. Penang is infamous with many ‘famous’ Char Koay Teow stalls that are frequented by their own band of fans. Each CKT stalls stirs up their own distinctive style of Char Koay Teow decorated their own choice of toppings. Some come with crab meat, some come with mantis prawns. But for me only the simple and yet flavour complex plate of CKT can satisfy my desire and scourge.
Today I won’t dwell on what I like, but talk about the choices CKT that we can choose from at Lorong Selamat. Yes, it is plural. There are now 3 stalls of CKT to choose from....
We wasted no time to get to our first food stall. I had skipped breakfast and the inflight meal, so when we touched down in Penang we headed straight for some Penang Char Kway Teow.
Our first photostop was the Temple of the Reclining Buddha and our Tour Guide told us that just around the corner there was a famous Char Kway Teow Stall. So, while the others were busy photographing at the temple grounds, Wahcow and I met up with Penang Blogger, CK Lam and headed for the Char Kway Teow stall...
“Don’t feel like eating at Bayan Lepas”, that was what Huat Koay said the other day when we wanted to go for dinner. Yes, we had always been having our meals within the Bayan Lepas area that it was good to just drive a little bit longer to have dinner elsewhere.
Without much thought, we actually ended up here at Gat Lebuh Presgrave or more commonly known as Sah Tiau Lor (3rd Street). Business was just about picking up when we arrived there. We would normally go for the Hokkien Mee and Wan Tan Mee here.
