I am sure many of you have eaten Penang Hokkien Mee as it is one of the favourite hawker food in Penang. However have you ever had pork knuckle (tu kar bak) with your steaming bowl of Hokkien Mee? If not, then hop over to the stall located in Presgrave Street (Sah Tiau Lor – 3rd Street) which serves this tender pork knuckle meat. The tender meat is only sliced out from the drum when required to maintain its moist meaty texture.
This stall does have a varieties of other add-on (kae liau) ingredients such as intestines (hoon chiang), spare ribs, boiled pig skin, roast pork and fishball. Among my must-haves every time I pay a visit are the pork knuckle, intestines and pig skin!...
I’ve always missed out a few good hokkien mee stalls at Penang as most of them will have their hokkien mee sold out by 10am. I always make myself to wake up early for the hokkien mee, but I always failed my mission.
Since morning session we can’t make it, so we went hunt for a good hokkien mee which opens in the evening. This hokkien mee stall is located at Presgrave Street or more renowned as 3rd Road (Sar Tiao Lor).
The soup base is quite clear but tasted sweet. I just had a normal bowl...
The other day, while I am chatting with Alan and we are in the conversation regarding "Tambun Pneah" and he told me that he loves the one that sold in Lebuh Presgrave. Then I recall that there are one shop that selling "Tambun Pneah". This also remind me that I have not blog about the Hokkien Mee that I have savour few months ago.
Hokkien Mee and Lor me Stall @ Lebuh Presgrave, Penang. One of the main attraction for me to drop by here is the hokkien mee. We have been told by friends and colleagues about this stall long long time ago. But we always missed the opportunity to try it out. So during one weekend, we headed there early for dinner...
Quite long time never visit Presgrave Street Hawker Centre, due to limited parking lot there. Before revisit there, I totally lost my memory about the food here is nice or not. I order the Ice Kacang, surprising it was tasty than the one at new world food court. Today our main target is Hokkien Mee. As usual I will add on Xiu Yok (烧肉). The Hokkien Mee was not bad, but I still prefer the Green House one. We order another side dish-fried oyster, the fried oyster was a bit “wet” but quite tasty.
“Don’t feel like eating at Bayan Lepas”, that was what Huat Koay said the other day when we wanted to go for dinner. Yes, we had always been having our meals within the Bayan Lepas area that it was good to just drive a little bit longer to have dinner elsewhere.
Without much thought, we actually ended up here at Gat Lebuh Presgrave or more commonly known as Sah Tiau Lor (3rd Street). Business was just about picking up when we arrived there. We would normally go for the Hokkien Mee and Wan Tan Mee here.
The Hokkien Mee here could be considered “fully” customizable...
