I have been eyeing on this place ever since I saw it being renovated. Finally made a trip here today to check it out. It is a new restaurant called Smoky Jack which can be found along Upper Penang Road. It is just next to Sega Fredos. It is under the same management as Tao Sushi. What caught my eye was the sign of ribs and also the weird woody-look-like-tree-roots it had at the entrance.

A new outlet opened at Upper Penang Road recently with unusually attention-seeking design at the exterior. It felt as if we were entering the movie set of those “Sleepy Hollow” or magical tales from Hollywood. Previously, it was Pintail (the one with signature transparent floor) that occupied this place.
Smoky Jack Ribs & Steakhouse is located beside Segafredo. The exterior design is as if tree branches growing and crawling from the inside…. Creepy? or interesting...
Our lunch buddy, OPK, was leaving Penang to move to KL. He’d never eaten at Smoky Jack before so we decided to have a farewell Friday night dinner there.
Smoky Jack is a fantastic feast for the eyes from the moment you step into its dimly lit interior. Think of Resident Evil crossed with Sleepy Hollow. There are gnarled tree branches curling all around you and why bother with the typical chairs when you can sit in giant, futuristic pods.
Take a look up onto the ceiling and your jaw will drop when you realise...
