I’ve not been to Salsa Restaurant for lunch in quite a while and have forgotten why we used to love having lunch at this place. So, we went back recently. I’m happy to find that the restaurant has not changed much even after it has moved to the ground floor of Continental Hotel. I know they moved years ago but I did say I’ve not been to the restaurant in a while.
I love their presentation. And yes, this comes with the set too. We get four tiny mouthfuls of different desserts. A spoonful of vanilla ice cream, a piece of carrot cake, a piece of chocolate sponge cake and a tiny glass of fruits in syrup. Yummy.
We had some guests with us on a recent Sunday afternoon and I had originally planned to go to The Sire. But I had overlooked the fact that The Sire is closed on Sundays! So, there we were sitting in the car in front of the Sire, wondering where to go that was nearby, for lunch. I then thought of Salsas Restaurant in Continental Hotel which is located at Upper Penang Road.
Salsas was previously at Kelawei Road, but I have yet to set foot into their new location after they moved to Continental Hotel some time back. Their ‘new’ location looks more spacious with glass panels all around, giving us a view of the clubs along Upper Penang Road.
One of MalaysiaBest’s reader suggested this restaurant to me and I am so happy with her recommendation. It is rare to find a restaurant serving reasonably priced meals and yet taking care of the food presentation, cosy ambience, thoughtful service and varied menu.
Salsas is located at the junction of Farquhar Street and Upper Penang Road, next to Continental Hotel. We sat by the glass window and watch the traffic on the busy Upper Penang Road, with tourists on trishaws going by. The place was packed during lunch time and the few times I passed by, it is usually packed for dinner too.
Invited to dinner by our family friend, Dr Alex Lim and his family at Salsa Restaurant located in Upper Penang Road. Salsa was famed for fine dining. A couple of years ago, we went to Salsa with his family as well, but was at its former location @ Kelawei Road.
For starters, we had a round of appetizers. The seafood platter with smoked salmon served on salad was a tickle to the taste buds. The soup was great.
The restaurant was warm and cosy, ambience was great, it has to be said. Nice having dinner with our good...
The lack of blog updates and replies to your comments of late is largely due to my increasing workload. But I managed to squeeze in some time to blog before I rush off to another appointment in 30mins time!
The mad rush has made me wistful of lazy Sunday afternoons enjoying a cup of tea… sometimes you do need to slow down, gather your thoughts and pamper yourself! And when I need to seek refuge, I never fail to think about afternoon teas at Annabelle’s Place.
Annabelle’s Place is pretty, comfortable and cottage-like. The perfect setting for English afternoon tea.
