This time around a few food bloggers and myself were invited by well known and talented bakers, Big Boys Oven to do a review at the Shanghaineses Restaurant, Dragon-i at Queensbay Mall, Penang. This restaurant is famous for their many varieties of non-halal Shanghainese cuisine.
I was looking forward to do this review as I still remembered not too long ago I was indulging myself with family and friends on their Mid-Autumn Festiva Banquet set meal which all of us truly enjoyed...
I've not been posting anything on Queensbay Dragon-i, well, shall I talk a bit about it?
I noted different outlet has its different design even their menu too. I only have been to 2 outlets in fact, one in the Curve, and the other is in Queensbay. Probably Queensbay is one of the newest outlet, thus, the design is slightly different from the one that I've visited some time in May.
Well, when you walked into Dragon-i, first thing you will order the Xiao Long Bao...
I’ve been longing to try Dragon-I but have been put off by the expensive price of the food. It was not until I received my second Advertlets payout then only I decided to dine in Queensbay’s Dragon-I. Seriously, Dragon-I has a very good marketing strategy. They put up a glass before the entrance at all restaurants where you can see the chefs prepare noodles and meat dumplings. It always draws passer-bys and I am always one of them. So, kinda happy that I get to fulfill my curiosity finally. And the meal can be considered free because of the extra money, lol.
Steamed meat dumplings (siu long pao) is a must. Siang Leng always laugh at my lack of skills...
After the stroll along the streets of Penang, under the extremely warm weather, we moved on to Queensbay Mall, the latest and largest shopping complex in Penang. Initially we thought of watching a movie, as GSC currently has a buy one free one promotion with voucher printed online. But sad to say, no good movies on show. Sigh.....
CIMB bank credit card holders are entitled to 10% discount of F&B at Dragon-i, so we made our way there. As we were still full from the double-whammy of breakfasts, we decided to take it easy and order and side dishes only...
I went to Queensbay Mall again. This time, I brought my brother there since he never been there. Last time when he was in Penang, there is no Queensbay Mall yet. After walking for sometime, we headed to Dragon-i to have our dinner.
When Dragon-i Restaurant newly open in Queensbay Mall, you can see a large crowd in front of the restaurant. You need to get a number and wait for your turn. There are seats available for you to sit while waiting. Before this, I only tried it once with 2 of my friends last year. That time, I not yet start my food blog...
